Let me share something I learned about myself over the years. I don’t do anything halfway. Just ask my family. When I’m in I’m ALL in. So, when I got back to yoga six months ago. I was tempted to jump right back in with five classes a week (because that's what I do, right?). But here's the thing - I'm not the same person I was pre-COVID. My business is different, my kids are older, and my energy needs have changed. As much as I hate to admit it I’m 5 years older now. I’m not just about to be 50. I’m about to be 55! YIKES!
Energy is Everything
Here's the truth: If an activity consistently drains more energy than it gives, it's not the right third life activity for you right now. Period.
When I first returned to yoga, I tried an evening class because it "fit my schedule better." Y'all, it was a disaster. I was mentally exhausted from the day, couldn't focus, and left feeling even more drained. Switching to morning classes completely changed the experience - I now leave energized and ready to tackle the day.
**Big Sister Tip:** Pay attention to how you feel not just during the activity, but for the hours afterward. That's your real energy ROI (Return on Investment).
